Men's Golf Teams Take Two of Top Three at Utica Invitational

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (September 23, 2018) – The two SUNY Delhi men's golf teams finished in the top three on Sunday to conclude the two-day Utica Invitational at the par-71, 6,767-yard Yahnundasis Golf Club. The Broncos' "A" team placed second with a 621 53-over-par score (316, 305), with Daniel Christy leading the way in third place with a 73 for a 150 total. The "B" team took third at 630 (314, 316), led by Aaron Oliver finishing seventh after a 78 score to total 155.

For the "A" team, Alex Fisher and Brandon Palmer finished tied for ninth scoring a 156. Fisher shot a 75, improving by six strokes from day one, while Palmer improved by four strokes with a 76. Russell Herbert took 20th after his 82 score brought his total to 160. Jonathan Smolen placed 23rd after matching his Saturday score with an 81 for a 162 total.

The Broncos "B" squad featured Zach Barrett and Bobby Goerlich tied for 13th with 158 scores. Barrett improved by four strokes with a 77, while Goerlich clubbed an 81. Jarrett McWilliams scored an 80 to finish 17th with a 159 score, with Jason Cyr matching his Saturday score of 85 to total 170 for 35th place.

Utica won the event with a 618 score, as Pioneer Patrick Coughlin took top spot on the leaderboard with a 146, three strokes ahead of the pace.

Head coach Dave Arehart's team heads to the two-day Oswego State Fall Invitational, beginning on Saturday, September 29 at 11:30 a.m.
