NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (September 22, 2018) – After a weekend off, the SUNY Delhi men's golf team were back on the links Saturday for day one of the two-day Utica Invitational. Both Broncos teams landed in the top three at day's end, with the "B" team in first with a 314 30-over-par score and the "A" team in third just two strokes behind. The tournament is at the par-71, 6,767-yard Yahnundasis Golf Club.

Bobby Goerlich and Aaron Oliver each led the "B" squad with matching 77 scores, as did Daniel Christy for the "A" team. The three are tied for sixth on the leaderboard. They are three strokes behind Utica's Patrick Coughlin and Hamilton's Michael Gillis for the top spot.

On the "B" side, Jarrett McWilliams stands in 15th place after scoring a 79, while Zach Barrett is 24th with an 81 score. Jason Cyr rounded out the squad with an 85 score for 35th place.

The "A" team consisted of Russell Herbert scoring a 78 for 11th place, while Brandon Palmer carded an 80 for 19th place. Alex Fisher and Jonathan Smolen each clubbed 81 scores to stand in 24th place.

Utica is in second with a 315 score, while SUNY Canton is fourth at 321. Other teams competing include Nazareth, SUNY ESF and SUNY Potsdam.

Day two of the Utica Invitational begins Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
