Delhi Wins NIAC Championship; Oliver Tops Leaderboard, Five Broncos earn All-NIAC

DELHI, N.Y. (October 1, 2017) – With Aaron Oliver winning by four strokes and four other Broncos earning All-NIAC honors, the SUNY Delhi men's golf team won the NIAC Championship on Sunday. The team shot a 301 on the second day for a grand total of 599. SUNY Delhi hosted the event at its own par-72, 6,542-yard College Golf Course.

SUNY Delhi landed the top nine spots on the leaderboard, with Oliver, Russell Herbert, Alex Fisher, Ryan Florack and Jonathan Smolen picking up All-NIAC for finishing in the top five. After clubbing an even par on day one, Oliver shot a 75 to finish in first place with a plus-three total of 147. Herbert took second place with a 74, bettering his first day score by three strokes, to finish with a 151. Fisher shot a 77, just one stroke over his day one total, to place third at 153. Florack and Smolen finished tied for fourth, with Florack shooting a 75 and Smolen 82 on the second day to each finish with a 155 for the tournament.

Joseph Burgin shot an 82 Sunday to place sixth at 156. Daniel Christy tallied an 82 on his way to seventh place at 161, while Brandon Palmer posted a 79, an eight-stroke improvement from day one, to take eighth at 166. Derek Firment shot a pair of 85's to take ninth place with a 170.

Delhi's competitor, Green Mountain, finished the tournament shooting a 775.
