Men's Golf to Host NIAC Championships, Looks to Capitalize on Tremendous Fall Season

DELHI, N.Y. (Septmber 29, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi men's golf team looks to parlay their successful fall season with a conference championship as they host this weekend's NIAC Championships. The two-day event begins Saturday, Sept. 30 at 12:00 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the College Golf Course at Delhi.

After opening the year with a two-stroke victory against The Apprentice School, the Broncos took home team titles at the Keuka Fall Invitational and the Utica Invitational. On the individual leaderboard, head coach Dave Arehart's team has combined for eight top-ten finishes and six top-five finishes.

Among all Broncos that have competed in every event this year, Alex Fisher leads the pack with a 78.7 average through six rounds. Fisher finished tied for first at Keuka, but settled for second due to a tiebreaker, along with a third-place finish at Utica with a year-best 73, a two-over-par. Ryan Florack is second in that category with an 80.0 average, and placed a season-best fifth at Keuka, and shot a year-low 74 at the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawk Invitational. Joseph Burgin averages an 81.7 on the year, and finished atop the leaderboard against The Apprentice School, shooting a one-over-par (73). Overall, Russell Herbert leads Delhi with a 77.0 average after competing at Utica and Roberts Wesleyan, both two-round events.
