Men Win Team Title at Utica Invitational, Three Take Top Five

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (September 24, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi men's golf team earned their second team title of the fall season on Sunday at the Utica College Invitational. The Broncos finished with a 626, with Alex Fisher and Russell Herbert pacing the Broncos, finishing tied for third with a 153, and Jonathan Smolen placing right behind them in fifth with a 155. The two-day competition was held at the par-71, 6,792-yard Yahnundasis Golf Club.

Fisher totaled a 73 on Saturday and clubbed an 80 on Sunday, while Herbert had a 74 and 79, respectively. Smolen finished Sunday with a 75, a five-stroke improvement from Saturday. Aaron Oliver placed eighth with a 159, while Daniel Christy was 12th with a 164, tallying 82's on both days. Ryan Florack was 13th with a 165, while Joseph Burgin totaled a 169, good for 18th.

The Broncos now turn their attention to hosting next weekend's NIAC Championships, which will take place at the College Golf Course at Delhi. The competition begins Saturday at 12:30 p.m., with Sunday's tee time set for 10:00 a.m.
