VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (March 6, 2020) – An ACAA Tournament MVP performance over the weekend earned senior guard Justin Daoud (Yonkers, NY / Palisade Prep) USCAA Athlete of the Week. Daoud combined for 37 points, 17 rebounds, 13-of-16 on field goals, and 7-for-8 on 3-pointers to help the Broncos to dominating wins over Valley Forge in the semifinals and Pine Manor in the championship as Delhi secured its second straight ACAA title.
Daoud had a day Saturday versus the UVF Patriots with 28 points and 13 rebounds, making 11-of-13 from the field and 5-of-5 from 3-point range as the Broncos set a single-game scoring record with a 118-70 victory. The Yonkers, NY native then delivered nine points with four rebounds in Sunday's championship win over the PMC Gators by a 94-42 score, making 2-of-3 from the field and 3-of-4 from the free throw line.
Daoud and the Broncos were selected as the number-three seed for next week's USCAA Division I National Tournament at Penn State Fayette in Uniontown, Pa. They will take on six-seed Holy Family in the first round on Thursday, Mar. 12 at 12:00 p.m. This marks SUNY Delhi's first-ever USCAA National Tournament appearance, and first national tournament appearance since 2011-12.
