DELHI, N.Y. (January 2, 2020) – An up-tempo second half for the SUNY Delhi men's basketball team was not enough to get them over the hump against Hartwick in a 76-68 home defeat Thursday. The Broncos were handed their third straight defeat to move to 7-6 on the season.

Trailing, 55-44, early in the second half, the Broncos jumped on a 9-0 run to get back in the game at 55-53 with 13:09 remaining. Despite several opportunities to take the lead, the Broncos were able to knot things up at 57-57, only for the Hawks to regain the lead and momentum on a Pat Garey 3-pointer with 9:04 to play. This triggered a 12-3 Hartwick run that kept the visitors comfortably ahead for the remainder of the game. The Hawks also got a boost on reaching the bonus with 5:52 to play, with eight off their final 14 points coming on free throws.

Delhi struggled from behind the arc, making just 4-of-23, while Hartwick managed to make 9-of-25. The Broncos finished at 31.6 percent shooting (24-of-76), as the Hawks finished at 44.3 percent (27-for-61). The men made 16-of-24 free throws to Hartwick's 16-of-23, and led in the rebounding battle, 52-44. The Hawks also left their mark in bench points, 28-11.

Four Broncos starters finished in double digits, including Mavenson Therneus logging a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Darius Hines led the team with 15 points, along with eight points, as Justin Daoud recorded 13 points and eight boards. Payton Dean finished with ten points and nine rebounds. Carlos Ithier made two of the team's four triples for six points.

Daoud, Dean, and Jordan Fragale each moved closer to their 1,000 career point milestones. Daoud now has 980 points, Dean with 918 points, and Fragale's three points Thursday putting him at 887 points.
