POULTNEY, Vt. (December 18, 2018) – Trailing by as much as 20 points in the first half of Monday's game at Green Mountain, the SUNY Delhi men's basketball team staged a furious rally to begin the second half to get to within four of the Eagles. While the Broncos held the home team scoreless for the first ten minutes of the latter half, GMC managed to put up 21 points down the stretch as Delhi was handed a 65-52 defeat.

With Delhi trailing just 10-7 with 15:18 left in the first half, Green Mountain went on a 24-7 run to give them their largest lead of the night at 34-14 with 7:05 to go before halftime, and led, 44-25, at intermission. The Broncos opened the second half with a 15-0 rally that saw them behind only 44-40 with 11:36 remaining. Green Mountain countered with a 9-2 run to lead, 53-42, with 6:17 to go, with Delhi getting no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

The Broncos managed just 26.8 percent shooting (19-for-71) and 5-of-32 from 3-point range, while Green Mountain connected on 37.7 percent (23-for-61) and 6-of-14, respectively. Delhi made 9-of-21 from the free throw line to GMC's 13-of-19. The Eagles held modest leads in rebounds, 52-47, and points in the paint, 28-20, but held a sizable 21-6 lead in bench points, thanks to 11 from Zach Lowe and eight from Jacob Plum.

William Knight led the team with 11 points, while Jordan Fragale netted 10 points with five rebounds and six assists. Payton Dean nearly logged a double-double with nine points and 15 boards, while Carlos Ithier scored nine points and Mavenson Therneus seven points. Saquan Goland had four points with five rebounds off the bench, while Jared Beach had two points.

Head coach Zack Thomsen's team goes into winter break at 5-7, and will look to turn it around upon their return at the MCLA Tournament. They will play Norwich on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 2:00 p.m., then face off against the host Trailblazers on Monday, Dec. 31 at 12:00 p.m. Delhi will return home to take on Penn College on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 4:00 p.m.
