ALBANY, N.Y. (December 6, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team put up 97 points in a high-scoring shootout at Sage Thursday evening. But despite six Broncos in double figures, led by 16-point games from Justin Daoud and Saquan Goland, the host Gators led the entire game. Along with a 55-36 disparity in rebounds Delhi came up on the short end of a 106-97 contest. It marked the Broncos' fourth game this season totaling at least 90 points, but first defeat in such a predicament, as they moved to 4-5 on the season.

Sage got the first two buckets on the evening, with Delhi's opening basket by William Knight making the 4-2 score with 18:30 left in the half the closest the two teams would get. The Broncos would only get to within one possession of the Gators twice more in the game, both by three-point margins in the opening session, as the Gators took a 59-48 lead into halftime. Sage would stretch its lead to as much as 20 points in the second half, with Delhi getting no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

Daoud also led the Broncos with eight rebounds, while Goland was second with six boards. Mavenson Therneus and Norman Wilson each tallied 13 points, as Jordan Fragale posted 12 points with four assists and Knight ten points with four assists. Payton Dean totaled eight points with seven rebounds.

The Broncos made 47.6 percent from the field (40-for-84) and 7-of-22 from long range, while Sage managed 48.7 percent (38-for-78) and 10-of-24, respectively. Delhi shot 10-of-17 from the line, as the Gators made 20-of-28. On the boards, Sage led, 25-17, in offensive rebounds, leading to a 36-21 advantage in second-chance points. Delhi did hold leads in points in the paint (58-52) and bench points (49-27), as well as forcing the Gators into 18 turnovers for a 24-20 advantage in points off turnovers.

Delhi continues its road trip on Saturday for an afternoon affair at Houghton at 4:00 p.m.
