COBLESKILL, N.Y. (January 24, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team claimed another NCAA Division III victim Wednesday evening with a 69-57 win at local foe SUNY Cobleskill. Delhi quickly bounced back from a road defeat at Canton on Tuesday to improve to 14-12, including 6-1 versus NCAA Division III opponents. The Broncos, ranked 14th in the latest USCAA Division II Coaches' Poll, now have four more games to claim a possible USCAA Tournament bid.

William Knight hit six 3-pointers for a game-high 22 points, scoring more threes than all the Fighting Tigers combined; Cobleskill made 4-of-21 triples, while Delhi made 9-of-25. Payton Dean reeled off his eighth double-double of the year with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Carlos Ithier netted 13 points. Point guard Jordan Fragale added four points with seven boards and seven assists, and Stephen Harten collected six points with four rebounds. Saquan Goland pulled down six rebounds.

The Broncos made 41.2 percent of their shots on the night (21-for-51), while the Fighting Tigers fared 36.1 percent (22-for-61). Delhi also won the rebounding battle, 40-37. The Broncos led, 38-31, at the half, and while Cobleskill came out strong in the second half to tie the game at 39-39, back-to-back Dean baskets put the Broncos back out in front, 43-39. Dean then grabbed one of his ten defensive boards on the following possession, which Knight parlayed into a three for a Broncos' seven-point lead at 46-39 with 15:21 remaining. The Fighting Tigers threatened several more times down the stretch, cutting Delhi's lead to three on two occasions. Both times the Broncos pushed back, even responding with a 15-6 run after the latter over the last eight minutes to secure the win.

Head coach Zack Thomsen's team looks to turn the heat up with four games remaining to try to secure one of the six USCAA Tournament at-large bids. The men's Division II championship, hosted by Penn State Fayette, will consist of ten teams, with the other four spots secured as automatic bids for the three conference champions and host Fayette. The Broncos close out their home season Tuesday against Davis at 7:00 p.m., followed by road meetings at Alfred State on Feb. 10, Villa Maria on Feb. 11 and SUNY ESF Feb. 13.
