Delhi Finishes Clutch in 57-53 Win at Cazenovia

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. (December 4, 2017) – The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team returned to the win column on Monday evening by way of a 57-53 road win at Cazenovia. In a tight contest and a back-and-forth second half, the Broncos regained the lead with three minutes left in the game and never looked back, improving to 4-7 and erasing a three-game skid. Delhi looks to keep it going when they host College of St. Joseph Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Floyd L. Maines Arena.

The Broncos fought through 13 lead changes and 11 ties Monday, and led by no more than six points throughout the contest. Holding a 26-22 halftime lead, Delhi was unable to shake the Wildcats in the closing half. With both sides trading one-possession leads down the stretch, Caz took as much as a three-point lead with five minutes to play at 47-44. Payton Dean responded with a bucket to trim the lead to one, and Jake Slobe put the Broncos ahead with his second of three 3-pointers on the following possession to make it 49-47 with 4:28 left. The Wildcats would tie the game once more the following trip down the court before Jordan Fragale put Delhi ahead for good with a layup at 2:59 to play. Ahead just 55-53 with seconds remaining, Carlos Ithier drained a pair of free throws to clinch the Delhi victory.

Slobe was a perfect 2-for-2 on triples in the second half and 3-for-6 on the night to finish with 10 points and four rebounds. Fragale and Dean led Delhi with 11 points apiece, with Dean grabbing six rebounds. Saquan Goland registered 13 boards, including five offensive, while Stephen Harten had ten rebounds.
