Cathy Foto is in her fourth season as SUNY Delhi's Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator for the 2020-21 season. The Ithaca graduate came to the Broncos following a landmark coaching and administrative career at nearby Colgate University.

Foto spent 28 years at Colgate University in Hamilton, N.Y. She served as the head field hockey coach for her entire tenure, compiling a 169-274-7 career record and leading the Raiders to a Patriot League championship in 1996 and a league regular season title in 1997. She was named Patriot League Coach of the Year in 1996 and 2004. Foto tacked on administrative duties in 2008, first as the assistant athletic director, then ascending to associate athletic director in 2013. She was also the Raiders' head women’s lacrosse coach for her first ten years.

As an administrator at Colgate, Foto served as a liaison to the Dean's Office, worked on the implementation of the Faculty Liaison Program, and assisted with facility scheduling and special projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics. She has also participated on numerous NCAA regional committees for both field hockey and lacrosse, two institutional NCAA Division I certification committee's and served as a regional representative for the NCAA Championships in field hockey.

Under Foto’s tutelage, Colgate produced 28 all-region selections, 73 national academic team selections, a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, three Goalkeepers of the Year, four Patriot League Rookies of the Year, the 2004 Patriot League Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and 60 first and second team All-Patriot League selections.

Foto’s coaching career has included a summer stint as the head coach of the Under-15 teams at the U.S. Field Hockey Association Futures Tournament in Boston in 1993. She has also served as a manager at both the 1991 and 1993 U.S. Olympic Festivals in Los Angeles and San Antonio, respectively.

Foto enjoyed a successful field hockey career at Ithaca College, where she graduated with a Bachelor's in Physical Education in 1983. As a Bomber, Foto led the field hockey team to the 1982 NCAA Division III Championship. She earned NFHCA All-America honors that season, and went on to be named the Ithaca Journal Female Athlete of the Year. Foto was inducted into Ithaca’s Hall of Fame in 1989, and she was selected to the NCAA Division III Field Hockey 25th Anniversary Team in 2005. She still ranks as the Bombers’ all-time leading scorer.

Prior to her arrival in Hamilton, Foto served as an assistant coach at Ohio State during the 1988 season. She taught and coached numerous sports at Waterville Central School and Newark Valley High School before moving into the collegiate coaching ranks in 1987 as the graduate assistant field hockey and assistant lacrosse coach at Cortland. While at Cortland, she also served as the head coach for both sports’ junior varsity teams, while earning her Master’s degree in Education.
