Final Four Decided in Record Numbers for Athletics Staff Madness! Voting Begins Friday

DELHI, N.Y. (April 16, 2020) – The Final Four of SUNY Delhi's Athletics Staff Madness has been decided. With a grand total of 4,879 votes cast in the second round, the Green, White, and Gold Regions were won by their respective top seeds, while the Blue Region was won by the fourth seed. These remaining four Broncos head on to the Staff Madness Semifinals starting this Friday. Beau Bracchy (Women's Volleyball) and Mike Burud (Swimming & Diving) square off on their side of the bracket, while Robb Munro (Cross Country/Track & Field) and Dave Arehart (Golf) go head-to-head in theirs.

The Gold Region Finals matchup between Beau Bracchy (Women's Volleyball) and Meagan Hillard (Softball) easily provided the biggest turnout of the second round with a total of 2,909 votes. The veteran Bracchy racked up 1,690 of those votes in the online poll and another 31 from the Twitter voting for a victory margin of just over 500 votes. Mike Burud (Swimming & Diving) carried his momentum from a decisive first-round victory to defeat Bob Backus (Director of Athletics) to represent the Blue Region by a 367-135 showing. Burud received 343 votes from the online polling and edged Backus, 24-22, in the Twitter poll.

The White Region showdown between Robb Munro (Cross Country/Track & Field) and Brian Mitko (Men's Soccer) proved to be the second-highest turnout with 828 total votes. Munro held on by steady margins in both polls to claim the victory, winning 428-348 online and 33-19 on Twitter. Dave Arehart (Golf) and Sam Miller (Men's Lacrosse) was neck-and-neck all week for the right to claim the Green Region. Miller held a slim lead to start, even finishing on top in the Twitter voting, 45-28. Arehart, however, got enough of a late surge on the final day to win the online voting with a 335-232 score to push him through to the Final Four.
