DELHI, N.Y. (May 1, 2018) – SUNY Delhi softball sophomore Molly Greene (Glenford, NY / Onteora) and men's soccer sophomore Alhasane Sako (Brooklyn, NY / Academy for Social Action) were recognized Monday night at the Barbara Jones Student Leadership Awards. Presented by men's soccer head coach Brian Mitko, Greene and Sako were two of 14 students that were chosen as Emerging Student Life Leaders.

Mitko on Alhasane Sako:

"Alhasane Sako is from Brooklyn, NY and is a General Studies major. He is coming back next year to the Recreation and Sports Management program. I have had the pleasure of working with Alhasane for the past year. He is a member of our men's soccer team. Not only is he a tremendous player that helped our team beat some huge opponents in big moments, he truly is a leader that was trying to make everyone a little bit better every day. With his positive attitude, and outstanding work ethic, he helped inspire our team to achieve more this past year. Outside of soccer he is a member of the SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) that helps throw different events around campus and at athletic events. He was recently a part of the search committee looking for our new multicultural center assistant director. He is always willing to do more and make the Delhi community as a whole better. And to top it all off, every day I see him walk into the athletic center, he has the biggest smile on and it is something that is just so infectious and makes me and the people he's around so much more happy. Delhi looks forward to your continued efforts to improve our community."

Mitko on Molly Greene:

"Molly Greene is from Glenford, NY and is in the Recreation and Sports Management program. Molly has been an amazing leader, student, and athlete here at Delhi. Softball coach Vicki Andruszkiewicz told me she is a natural born leader in anything she does, whether that's on the softball field, in the classroom, or running committees around campus. Molly is more than just a SUNY Delhi softball player. She is the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, gives tours for admissions, and is a student ambassador. Molly is able to brighten the mood of any room she enters, she confronts daunting tasks with excitement and can make those moments enjoyable for herself, her team, and her peers. I've recently got to know Molly and have been so impressed by her ability to get things done even when serious issues arise. I know Delhi and myself are eager to see what you bring to our community over the coming years."
