Swimming

Kiyomi Shibuya-Bacgel holds the distinction of the highest finish in the history of the college's Women's Swim program at the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. In 2012, she earned three College Swimming Coaches Association of America All-America honors in the 400 yard individual medley, the 200 yard individual medley, and the 200 yard breaststroke. She was the Region III Champion of the 200 yard individual medley, the 100 yard butterfly, and the 200 yard backstroke. She finished with 11 team records and 6 Mountain Valley Conference records. She was named Delhi's Female Athlete of the Year in 2012. Shibuya-Bacgel still holds 9 of the 11 individual records she set at Delhi including the 50, 100, 200 and 500 yard freestyle, 100 yard butterfly and 100 and 200 yard breast stroke. After earning an associate's degree in Travel and Tourism Management, she transferred to Robert Morris University in Chicago, earning a bachelor 's degree in Business Administration. While at Robert Morris she competed at the NAIA Swimm ing and Diving National Championship in 2013. A native of Tochigi, Japan, Kiyomi Shibuya-Bacgel is SUNY Delhi's first international student inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame.
