Cross Country/Track & Field

Michael Cebula started running in Valhalla, NY middle school and continued to excel at every level, including at SUNY Delhi. Cebula is a five time NJCAA All-American of Cross Country and Track and Field. He was a member of the Relay Teams that established school records in the indoor 4x800 meters and outdoor 4x1600 meters. He won the individual Conference Championship in Cross Country in 2004, becoming one of only four SUNY Delhi runners who ever broke 27 minutes on Delhi's home course. Cebula received the Coach's Award in 2004 and 2005. He played a critical role in three National Team Titles, two in Outdoor Track and Field and one in Cross Country. Cebula's success at Delhi earned him an athletic scholarship to Southern Connecticut State University where he graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees.  While  at SCSU, Cebula was elected team captain. He became the school's first student athlete to earn All-American honors in the 1500 meters. His time of 3:49.82 broke a school record that had stood for 26 years. In 2007, Cebula received the Male Scholar Athlete Award for his commitment to excellence and for upholding the academic and athletic ideals of a collegiate student athlete. In 2015, post collegiately, Cebula completed an Ironman Triathlon finishing the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run in 12  hours, 4 minutes and 24 seconds. Michael Cebula works as a Physical Education teacher in Hamden, CT and was named District Teacher of the Year, an honor that was also recognized at the state level.
