Soccer and Baseball Coach 1965-'91

Glen Reither, a life-long resident of upstate New York, developed his love of athletics at Catskill High School.  He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Physical Education at Ithaca College where he was captain of the Soccer Team as well as a member of the Basketball and Varsity Track Teams.  From 1958 – 1965 Reither served as Athletic Director at Margaretville Central School, returning to Cornell University and Oneonta State to do graduate work in Counseling and Administration.  He began his 26 year career at SUNY Delhi as Assistant Professor of Physical Education in 1965.    From 1966 – 1984 Reither coached the Men’s Soccer and Baseball Teams leading the teams to numerous regional competitions. During the 1967 season, the Men’s Baseball Team tied for the Region III Conference Championship with Monroe Community College.  In 1972 and ’73 the Broncos enjoyed their best season in college history with a 17-5-1 record.  In 1976 the Soccer Team went to Sub-Regionals and placed eighth in the Region. Reither was also a member of the Oneonta Chapter of Officials for 21 years. He retired in 1991 revered by the many students whose lives he touched as teacher, coach and refereeing official.
