Vernon Gorgrant was named 2005 SUNY Delhi Athlete of the Year after a phenomenal performance at the NAIA Region IX & X Championships, where his three round total of five under par broke the tournament record, and an outstanding four-year college career which included two Coaches Awards.  He was a two-time NAIA National Qualifier, 2003 and 2005, the first and only four-year institution qualifier in school history, for any sport. Gorgrant was a three-time Region X Champion. He was the first Region X Qualifier in 2002 and a two-time Individual Medalist. His scoring average of 76.16 was among the best in the nation. His freshman year, Gorgrant had a hole-in-one at the Keystone Ryder Cup Invitational, the first and only in competition history.  Gorgrant turned professional upon graduation, accepting a position at the Ocean City Golf and Yacht Club in Ocean City, MD. He also played on the Hooter’s Professional Golf Tour.
