Jocintha Gordon-Reece ’97

Cross Country and Track and Field standout Jocintha Gordon-Reece became SUNY Delhi’s first individual female National Champion in any sport in 1995 when she earned All Conference, All Region III honors and NJCAA Division III First Team All- American honors in Cross Country.  She was the Mountain Valley Conference Cross Country Champion and earned All Region III honors and Second Team All-American honors in 1994. In indoor track, she broke SUNY Delhi records at 500 meters and 1,000 meters. She competed at the Indoor National Championship in Carbondale, IL in March 1996 in the 600 meters and 1,000 meter events. Her success at Delhi earned Gordon-Reece a scholarship to St. John’s University where she competed in the Big East Championships and the prestigious Penn Relays. Gordon- Reese garnered St. John’s all-time record in the 4 x 800 meter relay in 1997, a record she still holds.
