Baseball

Barry Cole was named a first team NJCAA Region III All Star in Baseball in 1966 and 1967. He led the Broncos both years in hitting, batting .556 in conference and .365 overall in 1966 and batting .593 in conference and .479 overall in 1967. During the ’66 season, the Broncos finished 5-1 in conference play and 9-6 overall, placing third at Regionals. Cole captained the Baseball Team during the 1967 season, leading his team to 7 wins and 1 loss in conference play and a tie for the Conference Championship with Monroe Community College. Cole was also Vice President of the Phi Beta Lambda Business Leadership Club. Upon graduation from Delhi, Cole received a baseball scholarship to Kent State University where he played with Thurman Munson and Steve Stone who both went on to the Major Leagues. Cole lettered at Kent State during the 1969 season. Since then, he has enjoyed a lifetime of baseball and still stays active in a senior men’s slo-pitch softball league.
